Fountain Inn’s Fire Chief Russell Alexander was recently named the 2025 South Carolina Firefighter Mobilization Coordinator of the Year by South Carolina State Fire.
The prestigious honor, which was announced at the end of last month, recognizes officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the South Carolina Firefighter Mobilization plan. This involves coordinating resources and personnel across the state during emergencies.
“It is an honor just to be nominated and an even bigger honor to be chosen,” Alexander said. “It means a great deal knowing I am able to help departments all over the state during large events. We have an awesome group of coordinators in the state that all work tirelessly when the phone rings, [and] without their support, we would not be able to do what we do.”
Alexander has served as the department’s chief since 2022 and has worked in the town for over a decade. He is also active in the local community, serving as president of the Fountain Inn High School Athletic Booster Club.
“[Alexander] has been one of our regional coordinators for a very long time, but this past year, he was integral in managing the largest mobilization in the history of the program,” said Chad Beam, SC Firefighter Mobilization Program Manager. “He always volunteers to respond statewide to help, no matter the need or the emergency or the location … He will always make time for the program because he believes in it.”
