Biography
GP McLeer was elected Mayor in November of 2019. He is the Executive Director of the Upstate Mobility Alliance, a nonprofit working to advance transportation policy, investment, and solutions across the ten-county Upstate region of the state. He is also the co-founder of Pecan Public Relations, LLC, a nonprofit consulting firm with clients across the state.
Memberships
GP is a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of South Carolina Mayors and is Keep Laurens County Beautiful Board President. He also sits on the Municipal Association of South Carolina's Legislative Committee, the Greenville-Pickens Area Transportation Study's (GPATS) Policy Committee, and Greater Good Greenville's Advocacy Committee.
GP is a member of the Fountain Inn Rotary Club and the College of Charleston's School of the Arts Council.
He has previously served on the boards of the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce (Chairman) and the Fountain Inn Chorale.
Education
He earned his bachelor's degree from the College of Charleston and attended high school at St. Joseph's Catholic School.
Personal Life
GP is married to his wife, Taylor, an Instructional Coach at Lead Academy, and serves on the board of Mill Town Players in Pelzer. They have one daughter, Albee James.
GP's parents, George and Elizabeth, live in Fountain Inn and are retired special education teachers. He is the eldest of three siblings. His sister, Mairin, is a special education teacher in Greenville County, and his brother, Michael, is studying Political Science at Clemson.
